Quote of the Week:

“Each of us has a vision of good and of evil. We have to encourage people to move towards what they think is good... Everyone has his own idea of good and evil and must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them. That would be enough to make the world a better place.”‚Äč

Vis Math Club Excels in Year One!

Junior high math teacher, Mary Lou Vainisi, moderated an after-school math club for interested junior high students this past year. The club met weekly and engaged in a variety of math-related activities. In addition, the club participated in activities for a National organization called Mathcounts. Mathcounts was founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and CNA Foundation, a financial corporation based in Chicago.

The National Math Club sponsored by Mathcounts helps build confidence in students of all ability and interest levels by giving them the opportunity to engage in unique math activities in a relaxed, social setting.

Our math club achieved gold status in the Mathcounts National Math Club organization. Visitation was one of only 12 schools in Illinois and about 175 nationwide to achieve this highest status among all schools that have math clubs. Congratulations to all those who worked on the survey project that contributed to the award, as well as all math club members throughout the year participated in this after-school commitment.

Congratulations to State Science Fair Participants
Twelve students recently represented Visitation at the State Science Fair competition at Milliken University.  We are proud of these students for their great effort, level of learning and how well they represented Visitation!
